I'm starting to lose hope. Even tried reinstalling the sound driver, rebooted and everything seemed to work, but as soon as I started up mojopac the audio controller dissappeared (from the host machine too).

Motherboard: Shuttle AK39
Audio device: AC'97 (Realtek?)

could you please check the sound settings within Mojopac. we also recommend you to connect the device to another PC and check the functionality.

I have had this problem for some time, after reformatting the usb HDD on which i installed mojopac and then installing again from scratch it sorted the problem for a short time. The problem appears to occur with any pc i plug the HDD into.
Like trojanscout the problem affects the host pc too and it has to be rebooted before any sound output will work.

The other, less irritating, bug I frequently have occuring is the mojopac bar not appearing (however in this case the windows key+S hotkey works for switchin between host and mojo) or the bar appearing at the bottom of the desktop.

Help with the problem would be appreciated.

Could you please disable unwanted program's running at the backend by using MSConfig utility. You can access the MSConfig utility by following the below steps:

1) Click Start, and then click Run. The Run dialog box opens.
2) In theOpen field, type msconfig, and then click OK.
3) When the System Configuration Utility dialog box opens, click the Startup tab.

Remove the checkmark in the box next to all known unnecessary programs by clicking the box next to the program. Do not remove the check marks of Windows system files or Ringthree directory files or unknown application files.

4) When Mojopac prompts to restart, Click yes.

NOTE: After restarting the Mojopac, a message will be displayed, select the check mark beside "Don't show this message or launch the System configuration Utility when windows start" and click Ok.

This should resolve the issue.

There is only one startup process and it is a Ringthree one. So no solution there.

At this point to isolate the issue, I request you to check in Services list by by performing the below steps :

1. Enter into Mojopac, click Start, click Run.
2. Type Services.msc in the Open box, click Ok
3. Double, click "Windows Audio" on the right side in the Services Pane.
4. Make the Startup Type box as "Automatic"
5. In the Service Status section, make sure it is set as "Started" or else click on "Start"
6. Click Ok, click Apply.

thanks for your reply but this still fails to solve the problem. The settings are already set to "automatic" and were started. I also tried stopping and then restarting the service, with no luck.

Could you please reinstall the Mojopac and check the functionality by following the below steps:

* Download the update Mojopac installer from the below webpage:

http://www.mojopac.com/portal/content/download.jsp

* Run the installer.

Reinstalling Mojopac by following the above steps will not corrupt or impact the applications already installed.

If the issue persists then I request you to upgrade your mojopac to 1.8.2.0 version. You can download the update from the below website:

I am not certain that the issue persists if the Mojopac drive is connected to another PC or not. If the audio works fine on another PC then could you please disable the unwanted programs running on the host PC using MS-Config utility and check the functionality.

I have already tried disabling unwanted processes with msconfig on the host PCs as well as within mojopac.

I know that the problem occurs on at least 2 PCs, the only similarity between them that I can think of is that they are dual boot with linux, but I can't see how this would affect it.

At the moment these two PCs are the only ones I have access to that are running XP, but I will test on another PC as soon as I am able.

Interestingly, after reinstalling mojopac I had sound working for about ten minutes before it cut out. After cutting out, programs that use sound tend to crash and freeze and media players such as winamp and ms media player 9 etc return the error message that the sound device is not functioning properly, or that no sound device is detected.

To isolate the issue, could you please connect the drive to PC only installed with Windows XP and check the functionality, as we are unable to replicate the issue with Mojopac connected to Windows XP PCs.

I have now been able to use my HDD with mojopac on a PC which is not dual boot with linux and have not had the problem with sound.
However, it still seems odd to me that this could be the cause, if I discover anything else connected to the problem I will post here.

I've just installed that latest mojo and have the same problem. I do not have a dual boot. My system is Media Center addition, but that essentially is XP Pro. I've tried everything suggested here to no avail. Help.:(
